Halvers do Oregon!

Sunday, August 30, 2015

After the Agidius family stayed with us for Christmas and talked so favorably of their home state, we knew we would have to visit!  In July we finally did and they were such amazing hosts!! Letting us come and go throughout the week and even taking us to their beach house on the Oregon coast.  The girls had such a great time they keep asking to go back!

Day 1: Downtown Portland and of course voo doo donuts.  A quick stop by a local winery (aka Drew's nap time) and the day was complete!

Day 3: Sisters, OR for a little splash pad time with cousin Jenny and a visit with Aunt Joyce & Uncle Jerry.

Day 4: Bend, OR aka beer heaven 🍻
We booked the cutest little cottage and enjoyed some great food and brews.  This is Mirror Pond and an editorial shot of Drew that pretty much sums up the quirkiness of Bend.

Day 5: We decided to take a different way back to Portland so we could visit Mt Hood.

Thumbs up! Everyone was big enough for the alpine slide :)

Mt Hood hike, this bridge was part of the original Oregon trail.

The girls' first ski lift ride to the top of Mt Hood

...where there was still snow in July!

Day 6: More hiking back in Portland and a day with cousin Audrey.

Multnomah Falls

Oneonto Falls had a log challenge, but fear not we "passed the kids" and made it to the end.  It was a short but beautiful hike - swimsuits required!

Before we drove to the beach house that night, we went to a concert in the park in Lake Oswego. Allison insisted on putting her name in for a free CD and sure enough she won!

The irony is that "Sundholm" was all over this album, there was a family connection! Craig's cousins helped produce the album so Jenny helped us connect with Uncle Conrad for a visit our last night in town.  Small world...

Day 7: Rockaway Beach, where the boys caught the rest of our meals!  Perch for dinner one night, crab for dinner the next night, and crab omelettes for breakfast our last day.  Yum!

Farewell Portland! Until next time 👍
