She was 2 days early, Craig was on shift and I called him at 2:22am, then we were off to the hospital about 4:30am once grandma and papa got to the house, and Drew was here at 6:09am. Happened in a flash! The funny part (and I'm a little embarrassed to admit this) is that as soon as I started to feel contractions at 1am my first thought wasn't to call Craig (thinking I have plenty of time...) but to hop on email and finish up some work. I wasn't expecting to go early! And it's official, I was probably working too much anyways so maternity leave is exactly what I need right now :)
The support from family and friends has been so helpful! It sure has made the transition to "parents of 2" so much easier. Craig, of course, is super dad. He has all our food taken care of, cooking up a storm and even smoking and vacuum sealing food before Drew got here. He takes Allison to the gym every morning so I can grab a cat nap & shower. Amazingly, I've been able to get both girls to nap at 1pm every day which means another nice nap for mama in the afternoon. So despite being up 3 times a night, I'm actually feeling pretty good!
Allison has been a great big sister :) Our biggest challenge has been getting big sister to leave the swing alone... She does however seem concerned about Drew's whereabouts. If she's out if sight Allison always asks, "where's baby Drew?"
The dog's thoughts: oh great, another one. As if one jumping on me saying horsey isn't enough...
