Farewell summer, bring on the fall!

Well, August turned out to be quite a month! Allison is a pro at sitting up now, I'm actually a little frightened because she's figuring out how to get up on her knees and rock too. Pretty soon she'll be crawling!! And we're so not ready... We've been shopping for baby gates but we have a huge opening at the top of the stairs (60") and not too many baby gates accommodate that. We also have a tri-level house so there's actually quite a few stairs and that makes me nervous too. I guess we just need to figure out where we want to confine her and start blocking areas off. Also unfortunate is that she's outgrown her bouncer and the swing isn't too far behind. It seems the Exersaucer and Pack N Play will be the only things that keep her out of trouble!! Let the baby proofing officially begin...

We also went to San Diego this month for Craig's bday. We thought it would be fun to get out of the heat and take Allison to the beach. Our hope was to find a good rate at Hotel Del Coronado since we've always wanted to stay there, but it was just too expensive. We found a much more reasonable place on Pacific Beach that was also beachfront and super convenient for food, beach time, and walks in the stroller. Allison did great on the long drive and she loved the beach! It was a little chilly to take her in the water but we did get her feet wet. Our goal is to try and come back every year, maybe rent a house/condo for a big family trip. Craig and I made sure to scope out some properties while we were there :)

...but luckily the sun came out and we got to play on the REAL beach!!
