That first business trip after maternity leave, what an adventure! Of course it had to be one of my longer hauls, but it was great to get out of the heat and visit beautiful Seattle. This also marked the first overnight for Craig and Allison. Craig is doing an amazing job as Mr. Mom (aka our primary daycare provider) so I wasn't worried about them at all. I was more concerned about where and when I'd be able to pump! I'm learning that there aren't many moms who travel for business and continue to nurse. This surprised me, but after that first trip I guess I can see why. It's a lot of work to pump and transport milk - the extra bags/cooler, hassling with TSA, allowing the extra time, ensuring there's a fridge in your hotel room, etc. Then again, I'm not doing it for me; I'm doing it for her. I've challenged myself to nurse for at least six months and I'm feeling confident that I may be able to go longer :) I've been able to book nearly all my trips around Craig's schedule not to mention Craig and Allison are going to be able to join me for my national sales meeting in August. That was the one trip I was most worried about because it's a whole week in St. Louis!
Now that I do have a few trips under my belt, I think it's funny because I thought I would miss Allison most while at the hotel. Surprisingly, I find myself missing her most at the airport! With so many kids and babies around its hard not to think about her. Overall I do enjoy being back at work and especially back in the air :)
