Honeymoon Part 2: St. Vincent & Grenadines

Sunday, June 10, 2007

We returned from our Windjammer cruise last Sunday. There's just something about a tropical location that makes a great a honeymoon... We traveled on a 180 foot sailboat for a week, stopping in small ports and remote beaches throughout St. Vincent & the Grenadines. Grenada is nearly to South America so its at the southernmost part of the Caribbean. The humidity took a little time to get used to but the water temperature was near perfect! We spent a lot of time reading on the beach, in the water snorkeling, or swimming with beer in hand :) My old pal Belmund is currently living in Grenada so we got a chance to spend a little time at St. George University and grab a glovers pizza - Chicken, Jalapeno, and Pineapple. Yum! We arrived 2 days before the cruise and stayed a day after so we had a chance to wander around St. George harbor, the famous Grand Anse Beach, and Morne Rouge.

So the cruise... Memorial day is actually Whit Monday in St. Vincent & the Grenadines so nothing was open at our first stop. The captain of the ship took us to a secluded beach instead so we relaxed on the beach all day and snorkeled. They brought lunch & booze to the beach so that was pretty nice. All the food was great and the crew was awesome. Carriacou had an awesome power boat excursion that stopped by the Pirates of the Carribbean movie set and a black sand beach. It was pretty cool and the creole chicken/fish was awesome! We practically had our own private island in Tobago Cays. You could actually snorkel around the entire island! That was probably the prettiest beach and best snorkeling of the trip. Bequia had the best shopping and the most restaurants. The whole ship was at a place called the Devil's Table that night for a live band/"land" party. We had a beach bonfire at Union Island and then our last night was back in Grenada. We got to check out Seven Sisters waterfalls and enjoy another day at St. George Harbor. I just posted all our pictures today. We just got our wedding dvd back yesterday too. It's pretty hilarious! I'll try to host the video and post the highlights so that everyone can see it.
